California Shakespeare Theater announces registration for 2016 Summer Shakespeare Conservatories.
by Clive Worsley
Director of Artistic Learning

Clive Worsley
We are very excited to announce that registration for our 2016 Summer Shakespeare Conservatories will open this January. Our ever popular summer training programs for young theater enthusiasts (ages 8-18) combine our passion for artistic excellence with our commitment to building character and community. At Cal Shakes Conservatories, our students receive the highest quality of theatrical education by our team of working theater professionals—studying skills like improvisation, movement, and stage combat, while performing Shakespeare in professional settings, and creating life-long friendships in a safe and empowering environment.

With both four- and two-week sessions available in Oakland and Lafayette, our programs offer flexible options that can fit into any family’s busy summer schedule. We look forward to another inspiring and fun-filled summer with you.
“[Cal Shakes Summer Conservatory] was one of my daughter’s favorite experiences” —Parent of Conservatory student.
“I like the community you build at Cal Shakes. You start off not knowing people and end up being part of a community that supports each other.” —Cal Shakes Conservatory student.

• Master Class Mondays (4 week camps only)

Cal Shakes’ Summer Shakespeare Conservatory for ages 8-18 offers a theater experience rooted in the same passion for artistic exploration and excellence that guides our award-winning Main Stage productions.

We foster self-expression and artistic discipline to engage students in the theater-making process: In the dynamic study and physical experience of developing some of literature’s greatest characters, our students also develop their own.

"My favorite part of Conservatory is the people. The campers and teachers are like one giant family." —Five-Week Conservatory student.

Participants spend the morning playing and creating in a wide variety of theater disciplines, taught by working theater professionals.

Afternoons are spent in rehearsals. The experience culminates in Shakespeare performances for family and friends at the end of the program.
